The Truth as I see it On March 1, 2007
On the surface, it seems the way to make money on the internet is to sell
instructions about how to make money on the internet. Think about it
a minute. If a web site was making so much money on the internet,
why do they have to sell instructions?
We shall see how or if my attitude changes as we follow
this project.

You do need to apply for inclusion. I received approval within

Google Ad Sense
For Content:
Allows miniature payments for web site
visitors who click through to sponsored links. Their magic code
somehow directs appropriate ads to your site.
I was quite surprised about the links that appeared on one
of my sites www.telecomtrader.com
This website is a membership based telecommunications cooperative. The
purpose of the site is to attract customers to choose their communications
contractors. The ads were relevant and appropriate. I was impressed
at the speed with which Google Ad Sense learned my site content and
instantly fed ads that are of interest to my customers. The
KEY to unlocking the secrets to Google Ad Sense is to have relevant
content on each of your web pages. See the side bar with the Google
Ad Sense links. Every time a visitor clicks one of these links, the
web site owner earns a few cents.
There are two kinds of Content Ad Sense: The first
is displayed on the right side of this page. The other is displayed
on the upper left side of this page.
Google Ad Sense Downsides: There are two that emerge
so far. First, it is forbidden to click your own web page links.
Golly this is hard not to do! You are also forbidden to use
'crawlers' or solicit clicking from other people. Bummer. If
they catch you and they can and will catch you, you will lose your
privileges.
This down side also falls under the title 'law of
unintended consequences'. This often happens when the masses
are punished for the sins of the few. Here's what I mean:
There are some really neat AdSense links on my web pages. Some of
them I would really like to follow, see what they are all about. It
is true that I'd like to purchase products via these links. I also
need to check them for competitive disadvantages. It does no good to
have Ad Sense links if you are promoting your competitors. The
recommended solution from Google is to download 'Preview Tool'. This
feature supposedly allows you to right click on your site's Google Ads and
then be able to follow the link to determine if the company is a
competitor. HOWEVER, when I right click on my Google Ads, I get a
bunch of other ads that have nothing to do with me finding the correct
link. I have an open contact with Google regarding this connundrum.
It is now March 7, no response as yet.

Google Referrals
A web site publisher can also earn per-click revenue with
Google Referral links. The objective being to encourage your readers
to acquire Google products. Following these links, you and your
readers will be able to find information about how to add
Google Ad Sense and Referrals. There are FOUR options for Google
Referrals:
This is an interesting quote from the Google Referral
page:
"When a publisher who signed up for Google AdSense through your
referral earns $5.00 within 180 days of sign-up, you will be credited with
$5.00. When that same publisher earns $100.00 within 180 days of sign-up
and is eligible for payout, you will be credited with an additional
$250.00. If, in any 180 day period, you refer 25 publishers who each earn
more than $100.00 and are all eligible for payout, you will be awarded a
$2,000.00 bonus." The fine print states that this is a
one time per year offer.
There are four options for Google Referrals:
Golly it sure would be interesting to see how many of YOU can earn
bonuses. I'll report MY progress if you help. Start off by clicking

Firefox and Toolbar:
Another example of Google Referrals is their free offer
for Firefox and Toolbar. Firefox is a very secure and reliable web
browser - competing with Internet Explorer in a big way. You are
compensated when a visitor downloads these services from YOUR link. Get your Firefox browser HERE
Google Essential Software:
You can direct yourself and your web site visitors to
download a fun pack of Google Essential Software. "These
applications improve your browsing with increased speed and security,
provide better searching capability for the web and for your own PC and
enable you to collect and organize your personal data, including photos". Get your Google

Google Ad Words: The last Google Referral available is for their Google Ad Words.
This software allows you to place ads for your website into the Google
AdSense. This is not free.
" Google AdWords enables advertisers to create and display ads on
Google.com and the Google content network, which includes Google AdSense
publisher sites like yours. Advertisers can choose their target
audience, set their budget, and see their ad almost instantly. Visit the
Google AdWords
website.
When an advertiser who signed up for Google AdWords through your
referral spends $5.00 (in addition to the $5.00 sign-up fee) within 90
days of sign-up, you will be credited with $5.00. When that same
advertiser spends $100.00 within 90 days of sign-up, you will be
credited with an additional $40.00. If, in any 180-day period, you refer
20 advertisers who each spend more than $100.00 within 90 days of their
respective sign-ups, you will be awarded a $600.00 bonus. "

How Do I Use
Google Ad Sense and Other Services?
Brass Tacks time.
Google provides very good tutorials and instructions
for adding their content to your web pages. And YES you MUST have your own
WEB PAGE! If you cannot follow these instructions then you had probably
better go backwards and update your knowledge base.
I am only a Medium Good Middle Aged Girl Geek (MgMaggee).
I have five web sites but I use a text based editor for idiots. My
web pages are constructed with Microsoft Front Page. This software is also
called wysiwyg (what you see is what you get). This kind of software
allows you to type, add photos, forms, etc without learning programming
languages. There are limitations.
The good thing is that Google provides these links for
free AND you get paid for it. The bad thing is that the ad codes are
in html with java script. I can't do that. I barely know what
THAT is!
You don't have to be an html or java script editor. What
you do have to do is to figure out how to insert this html code and
scripts into your web page. In any web page editor software, there
is a way to look at 'source code'. If there isn't a click through
box, search for it in your help file. Your query question might be,
'view and edit html'.
After you find the html code you have to spend
excruciating hours trying to understand it. You have no choice about this.
I didn't say learn! I said understand.
If you look through all of the gobbledygook you will see the content you
typed into your web page editor. Correlate your text to the location
you want to enter the Google code.
Ok... how to explain this better. The left column
below is a copy and pasted html of the paragraph immediately above...
beginning with "After you..."
The code on the right is identical except for the last
four words. I enter the last four words in the text based (wysiwyg)
side of the web page editor. I pick out where I want the Google or
other affiliate ad and then type in clue words "INSERT GOOGLE TEXT HERE".
Then I flip over to the html view of my web page and
search for this 'clue text'. I'm sharing this little 'cheat' with
you because I darned near had a nervous breakdown with several anxiety
attacks before I figure out my clues.

Author's note: This has been one of the most
difficult instruction pages I have ever written. This is a
complicated procedure and merits your own study and work. If this page is
less or more clear than mud.... I'd like to hear from you.

How Much
Do I Earn?
Under most normal circumstances, I would never tell you
how much I earn. There are probably some repercussions of such
action. For the most part, it ain't nunna your bidnezz. I've
seen the 'pay for instructions' web sites and like you, impressed with the
huge earnings posted right there for all to see. Perhaps impressed
is the wrong word. I was incredulous, disbelieving... un huh. So
with this in mind, it seems relevant to share progress from startup.
I haven't yet signed up to receive any payments but not saying that I
won't one day.
